What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is recommended for a variety of reasons but what is it? Initially, I aim to develop is an understanding of the person, their history (what they've tried, what works, what doesn't) and what they want to achieve (their goals). People come to therapy for a variety of reasons and this can include:

-learning to manage difficult emotions and feelings

-transitioning through life changes

-understanding or making sense of problematic experiences

- problem-solving and decision making

-addressing self-criticism and improving self-care and boundaries

The process of change is an important part of therapy and a scary one. I work collaboratively to facilitate change and having over ten years of experience as a Psychologist, I can offer a variety of skills and interventions to accommodate the requirements of the client, rather than trying to fit the client into a one-size-fits-all  approach. This results in personalised treatment that is designed to help support your goals in therapy.
